Softball Recap: Plano Comes Up Short

After flying high against Parkview Christian Academy on Monday, Plano came back down to earth. The Reapers fell 6-1 to the Sandwich Indians on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on April 8th.

Chesney Schimandle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Plano saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Rowe, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Plano's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-13-1. As for Sandwich, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Plano will face off against rival Woodstock North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sandwich is set to square off against their familiar foe Johnsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
