Softball Recap: Brunswick Takes a Loss

Brunswick had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 7-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Shaker Heights Raiders by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Lyla Kaye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

As for Shaker Heights, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Shaker Heights' side, the result came thanks to Scout Harvey's shutout, as she gave up just six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eleanor Miller, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Emerson Miller, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will welcome Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shaker Heights, they will take on Medina at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bees will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
