Softball Recap: First Baptist Christian Comes Up Short

First Baptist Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the White Longhorns, falling 16-4.

Maddie McBride and Theresa Antimo stepped up to the plate in a big way. McBride scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Antimo scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Antimo a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Abi Gardner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Even though they lost, First Baptist Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.

First Baptist Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for White, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Baptist Christian will square off against St. John's at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for White, they will challenge La Marque at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. La Marque has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.77 runs per game on average), something White will no doubt try to take advantage of.
