Baseball Game Preview: Shamokin Area Indians vs. Selinsgrove Seals

Shamokin Area is 0-10 against Selinsgrove since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. Shamokin Area will venture away from home to square off against Selinsgrove at 4:30 p.m. Selinsgrove took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Shamokin Area, who comes in off a win.

Shamokin Area is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Bloomsburg by a score of 9-6 on Thursday.

Shamokin Area let Rylan Price and Hayden Karlovich run wild. Price scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Karlovich scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Karlovich has posted since back in March of 2024. Cash Primerano was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Selinsgrove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Mifflinburg. Seals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Monday.

Riley Romig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Selinsgrove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Parker, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Parker also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

The win got Shamokin Area back to even at 2-2. As for Selinsgrove, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Shamokin Area came up short against Selinsgrove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can Shamokin Area avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
