Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is East's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

East took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Coatesville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings skirted past the Red Raiders 4-2. Four seems to be a good number for the Vikings as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Ferri Ava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Cross Daria was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

East has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Coatesville, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. East is set to square off against their familiar foe Sun Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Coatesville will challenge rival Avon Grove at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Raiders 3.6, the Red Devils 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
