Basketball Recap: Holmes Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Holmes unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 43-29 bruising from the Currituck County Knights on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Aces in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.

Currituck County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arianna White, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 boards and nine assists. White is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Amani Dawson, who posted 12 points and four steals.

Currituck County's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Holmes and Bear Grass Charter will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Currituck County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-44 defeat against South Central on the 12th.
