Softball Recap: Beyer's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Beyer dropped their record down to 19-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Ceres Bulldogs, falling 7-1. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Jordyn Lish spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Beyer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Verges, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Ceres, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Ceres, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Ceres' side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Alizae Cole gave up only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Kylie Bond and Bella Bravo did most of the damage at the plate: Bond went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Bravo went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Bond has posted since back in March. Ava Montesdeoca was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Beyer has already played their next game, a 12-1 win against Lathrop on the 30th. As for Ceres, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 19-3 victory against Central Valley on the 30th.
