Baseball Recap: Neumann Regional Academy Wins Going Away Against Bucktail

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Neumann Regional Academy). Everything went their way against the Bucktail Bucks on Monday as Neumann Regional Academy made off with a 17-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Golden Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Gino Birch and Andrew Walter made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Birch tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Walter tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Birch scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Walter scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Angelo Birch was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Nolan Fagnano, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Neumann Regional Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bucktail only posted an OBP of .300.

The victory (which was Neumann Regional Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Bucktail, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, Neumann Regional Academy and Bucktail will both be playing Montgomery the next time they take the field. Bucktail will host Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Neumann Regional Academy will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
