Waukee's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-2. As for Northwest, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wolves beat Waukee by a score of 4-3 later that day.
