Salem and Scottsburg are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Salem was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Providence 7-6.

Meanwhile, Scottsburg put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Henryville 11-1.

Tucker Doriot made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Cox, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Cox is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Cale Barger was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Scottsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Henryville only posted an OBP of .231.

Scottsburg's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Salem, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Salem might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Scottsburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
