Drury waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Chicopee Comp Colts with a sharp 21-5 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Olivia Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ava Carriddi was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Madilyn Demary, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
The victory got Drury back to even at 4-4. As for Chicopee Comp, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Drury will head out to challenge Taconic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chicopee Comp, they will venture away from home to square off against Hoosac Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
