Softball Recap: Scottsburg Comes Up Short

Softball Recap: Scottsburg Warriors vs. Lanesville Eagles
Scottsburg had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it seven. They lost 21-6 to the Lanesville Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 5-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
Scottsburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe West, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Khloe June also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
As for Lanesville, their win bumped their record up to 6-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Lanesville's side, Madelyn Magner was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Gunn, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scottsburg will venture away from home to face off against Trinity Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lanesville, they will take on Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
