Volleyball Recap: Shadow Ridge Comes Up Short

If Shadow Ridge was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Dobson last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Shadow Ridge fell 3-1 to the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Stallions in their meetings with the Mountain Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Shadow Ridge started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.

Leading Mountain Ridge to victory were Pete Selinski and Leyton Gafford. Selinski had 15 digs and one assist, while Gafford had five digs and one block. The dominant performance also gave Gafford a new career-high in assists (50).

Shadow Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Mountain Ridge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Shadow Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Sunnyslope on the 25th. As for Mountain Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Millennium on the 25th.
