Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Grassfield's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Grassfield's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Thursday. They fell 48-36 to the Salem Sundevils. The loss put an end to the Grizzlies' undefeated start to the season.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lauren Priester, who posted 15 points and three steals. Priester has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 28 times she's played. Avia Scruggs was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Grassfield fell to 6-1. As for Salem, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Grassfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-31 victory against Colonial Forge on the 27th. As for Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverdale Baptist at 3:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
