Ashe County is 2-8 against Watauga since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Huskies will face off against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Ashe County didn't have quite enough to beat North Wilkes and fell 3-2.

Ashe County wouldn't go down easily and took North Wilkes into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 14-25, 15-13.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jose Cheek, who had 12 digs and three aces. Watauga had won 15 straight games and Caroline Childers did her part to make it 16 on Thursday. Everything went the Pioneers' way against Freedom as they made off with a 3-0 win with plenty of help from Childers, who had 15 digs and seven aces. With that strong performance, Blevins is now averaging an impressive 10.5 digs per game.

The final score came out to 25-4, 25-12, 25-16.

Watauga's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Ashe County, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 18-6.
