Baseball Game Preview: Lakeview Spartans vs. St. Joseph Bears

The Lakeview Spartans will take on the St. Joseph Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Lakeview lost 9-2 to Mattawan on Monday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Zack Rogers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Gull Lake hit St. Joseph with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears fell 7-3 to the Blue Devils.

Eli Kragt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Lakeview's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for St. Joseph, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-14-1.

Lakeview was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Joseph in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-4. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
