Softball Recap: Tri-Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Tri-Valley proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 14) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Gretchen Wyant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Paige Fesler and Elle Fesler did most of the damage at the plate: Paige went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Elle went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Elle has posted since back in April. Kylie Walden also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tri-Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Tri-Valley's record now sits at 18-4-1. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley will welcome Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they will host Taylorville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
