Softball Game Preview: Hughes Springs Mustangs vs. Gunter Tigers

For the second straight game, Hughes Springs will face off against Gunter. The Mustangs will face off against the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hughes Springs 2.2, Gunter 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Hughes Springs heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Gunter by a score of 4-3. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their 24-game winning streak.

For Gunter's part, Ireland Waite was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Waite has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

Gunter is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Hughes Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 27-4.
