Softball Recap: East Gaston's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

East Gaston dropped their record down to 18-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against West Caldwell, falling 16-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, East Gaston couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for West Caldwell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-2. The result was nothing new for West Caldwell, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For West Caldwell's part, Abby Bowman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Bowman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Daylann Patterson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Hartley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, East Gaston will venture away from home to face off against Lincoln Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Caldwell, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 15-5 win against Hibriten on the 23rd.
