Basketball Recap: Christa Ramos' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Neptune over Howell

Neptune lost against Howell on January 13th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Neptune Scarlet Fliers lost to the Howell Rebels on the road by a 56-40 margin. While losing is never fun, the Scarlet Fliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Rebels are ranked 31st).

Neptune's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christa Ramos, who posted 12 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryanna Edgerson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Neptune has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Howell, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Neptune will welcome Allentown at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Howell, they will head out to face off against Mainland Regional at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Howell is facing Mainland Regional at the right time seeing as Mainland Regional is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
