Baseball Game Preview: Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers vs. Oostburg Flying Dutchmen

The Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers will square off against the Oostburg Flying Dutchmen at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Monday, Manitowoc Lutheran came up short against St. Mary Catholic and fell 6-2. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Manitowoc Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wesley Hecker, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Logan Keesling also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Oostburg lost 16-2 to Plymouth on Monday. The Flying Dutchmen haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Manitowoc Lutheran now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Oostburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Oostburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Manitowoc Lutheran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Oostburg, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain Manitowoc Lutheran's hitters?

Everything went Manitowoc Lutheran's way against Oostburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Manitowoc Lutheran made off with a 16-6 victory. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Flying Dutchmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
