The Charlotte Catholic Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 74-43 victory over Providence. Charlotte Catholic might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Charlotte Catholic had a senior duo take command as Blanca Thomas dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds and Gracynn Gough scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Charlotte Catholic's points. Harper Mckain was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals.
Charlotte Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Providence, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte Catholic will challenge Providence Day at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Providence Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Charlotte Catholic is ranked fourth). As for Providence, they will head out on the road to face off against Marvin Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Marvin Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Providence likes a good challenge.
