Basketball Recap: Wagner Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Wagner had won four straight road games and Marcus Johnson did his part to make it five on Friday. The Wagner Thunderbirds enjoyed a cozy 68-54 win over the Boerne-Champion Chargers thanks in part to Johnson, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 20 points and seven assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Boerne-Champion lost, don't look at Logan Scott. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Peck, who posted 12 points.

Wagner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. As for Boerne-Champion, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 21-11.

Wagner will square off against Alamo Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wagner knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Alamo Heights likes a good challenge. As for Boerne-Champion, they will head out to square off against Tivy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Boerne-Champion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
