Baseball Recap: Monarch Takes a Loss

Monarch was the 8-7 winner over Silver Creek when they last played one another back in May of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Coyotes fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

Brody Montemayor was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Monarch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Monarch has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Silver Creek, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Monarch will face off against rival Centaurus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Silver Creek is set to take on their familiar foe Niwot at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
