Softball Recap: St. Francis Victorious

St. Francis took an eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Blaine, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints won by a run and slipped past the Bengals 2-1. That's two games straight that the Saints have won by just one run.

Sydney Borchert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kiera Mcintire, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Francis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

St. Francis' victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Blaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

St. Francis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blaine, they will head out to square off against Hill-Murray at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bengals surely won't give up without a fight.
