Softball Recap: Lancaster Red Devils vs. Northumberland Indians
Lancaster extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-5 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northumberland Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 on Tuesday.
As for Northumberland, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
For Northumberland's part, Braylin Beauchamp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. Beauchamp has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Northumberland's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tawny Bowis, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Abigail Bates was another, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
