Basketball Recap: King Comes Up Short

King was the 57-51 winner over Calallen when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The King Brahmas took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calallen Wildcats.

Calallen's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Cecava, who went 9 of 14 to rack up 20 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Cecava's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Rodriguez, who went 5 for 6 en route to 11 points and six boards.

King's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Calallen, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 23-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King will host Harmony School of Excellence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Harmony School of Excellence likes a good challenge. As for Calallen, they will be playing at home against Zapata at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
