Baseball Recap: Freeburg Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Freeburg dropped their record down to 12-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Roxana Shells by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Shells this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Tuesday.

Dane Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sam Rauckman, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Roxana, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-1 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch.

On Roxana's side, they let Trevor Gihring and Mason Crump run wild. Gihring went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Crump went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Crump has posted since back in April. Kael Hester was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Freeburg is taking a road trip to square off against Civic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Roxana, they will host Jersey at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
