Softball Game Preview: Tri-County North Panthers vs. Franklin Monroe Jets

The Tri-County North Panthers will head out to square off against the Franklin Monroe Jets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tri-County North has five straight victories, Franklin Monroe has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Tri-County North was able to grind out a solid win over Tecumseh, taking the game 6-2.

Kasidi Daugherty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lola Grieshop, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Gracie Hemp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Tri-County North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Franklin Monroe came up short against National Trail on Saturday, falling 17-2.

Tri-County North pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Tri-County North beat Franklin Monroe 5-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
