Baseball Recap: Dimond Lynx vs. Chugiak Mustangs

If Dimond was riding high off their 10-1 takedown of Wasilla last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dimond Lynx fell just short of the Chugiak Mustangs by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. Dimond was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chugiak apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Caleb Cooke put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Cooke was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Rowan Leathard led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Gideon Lesslie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

On Chugiak's side, Samuel Theis looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Jack Carron was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Dimond's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Chugiak, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Dimond will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Eagle River at 5:00 p.m. As for Chugiak, they will head out on the road to face off against South Anchorage at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
