Soccer Game Preview: Diboll vs. Madisonville

The Diboll Lumberjacks will head out on the road to challenge the Madisonville Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Diboll fell victim to Palestine and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Lumberjacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 565th, while the Wildcats are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, Madisonville came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Panthers onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won four games by more than three goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Madisonville's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Diboll, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Diboll suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Madisonville when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Diboll avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
