Volleyball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Fremont Silverwolves

The Layton Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Fremont Silverwolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Layton is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since May 14, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Farmington, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Phoenix: they've now lost three in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Fremont lost 3-0 to Syracuse on Tuesday. The Silverwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Syracuse scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

Layton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Layton came out on top in a nail-biter against Fremont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Layton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
