Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Stallions vs. Elizabeth Cardinals

Sierra is 0-10 against Elizabeth since May of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Stallions will square off against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m.

Sierra played against Ellicott on Monday and lost via forfeit.

Sierra will be up against a hot Elizabeth squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Cardinals' pitchers stepped up to hand Mitchell a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Brody Aldridge and Jeremy Waymire made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Aldridge pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Waymire pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Aldridge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Aldridge went 1-for-2 with one run and one double, while Waymire went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Waymire has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Carson Jones was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Robinson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Elizabeth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sierra is on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16. As for Elizabeth, their record is now 12-3.

Sierra suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Elizabeth when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Stallions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
