Baseball Recap: Highland Gets the Win

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Highland and Rigby, and Highland kept the tradition alive. The Rams walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Trojans on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.

Mason Payne made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Highland is undefeated when Payne posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cannon Eddie, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Highland: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Rigby, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
