Soccer Recap: R.J. Reynolds Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only R.J. Reynolds walked away with it. Their defense stepped up to hand the Hopewell Titans a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given R.J. Reynolds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Hopewell are ranked 245th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

R.J. Reynolds' one-goal win came courtesy of Luis Llerena, who's now up to four this season.

R.J. Reynolds has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those eight contests. As for Hopewell, they dropped their record down to 7-14-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

As of now, neither R.J. Reynolds nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
