The Canterbury Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Belen Jesuit Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Canterbury's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Cooper City with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Cougars not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th.

Ashby Piatt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Canterbury is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise. Piatt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
In other pitching news, Alex Daltrui looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, JT Huether was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Brayden Habuda was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Canterbury lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belen Jesuit). They blew past Dade Christian 12-6 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolverines as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The victory made it two in a row for Canterbury and bumps their season record up to 11-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Belen Jesuit, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything went Canterbury's way against Belen Jesuit in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Canterbury made off with a 13-7 win. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
