            Softball Recap: Dalhart Wolves vs. Palo Duro Dons        
        
		
        
        
            Dalhart fought the good fight in their extra-innings  match against Palo Duro  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Palo Duro Dons by a score of  13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Thursday (11), the Wolves still had to take the loss.
 Sydni Hyer put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 13 batters over  6.1 innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   eight  hits (and only one walk). Hyer was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Audra Jobe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.  Millie Voss was another key player,  going 2-for-5 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  double.
 Even though they lost, Dalhart  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when  they post 11 or more  hits.

With the  loss, Dalhart broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Palo Duro, their win  ended  a  ten-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 2-6.
 Coming up, Dalhart will square off against Lubbock Christian at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Palo Duro, they will face off against Coronado at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
