Basketball Recap: Morse Comes Up Short

Morse was the 67-50 winner over Kearny when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Morse Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 60-59 to the Kearny Komets. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Morse lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cameron Perez, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eldren Vergara, who posted 11 points.

It was another big night for Cameron Ackerman, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds for Kearny. Ackerman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Arthur Minton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Morse's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Kearny, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Morse wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-37 loss against St. Joseph Academy on the 2nd. As for Kearny, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 89-79 defeat against Monte Vista on the 3rd.
