Basketball Game Preview: Chaparral Lobos vs. Silver Fighting Colts

Chaparral is 1-9 against Silver since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chaparral Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Silver Fighting Colts at 6:00 p.m.

Chaparral came up into this matchup off a tough 55-point defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Santa Teresa by a score of 32-30 on Friday. The Lobos just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Silver on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Academy for Technology and The Classics out of the water with a 71-27 final score. Given the Fighting Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Academy for Technology and The Classics are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Silver has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Chaparral was taken down by Silver 50-20 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Chaparral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
