Volleyball Recap: Bellflower Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Bellflower kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 3-0 to the Peninsula Panthers. The defeat continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost eight in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-11.

Bellflower's offense was headlined by Oleevia Nansen and Jaylene Canedo, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Valerie Rivas and her 11 assists. Canedo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Bellflower will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Cerritos at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Peninsula, they will face off against Narbonne at 5:00 p.m. on the 21st.
