Football Game Preview: Raymondville Bearkats vs. Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions

The Raymondville Bearkats will face off against the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Raymondville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Raymondville really took it to Bishop for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-14 win. Considering the Bearkats have won five matchups by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Traeshaun Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 103 yards and four scores on only 13 carries, while also picking up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Santa Gertrudis Academy challenged Rio Hondo on Friday. The Lions were outmatched by the Bobcats and fell 48-11. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Santa Gertrudis Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Raymondville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Everything went Raymondville's way against Santa Gertrudis Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Raymondville made off with a 29-9 win. Will the Bearkats repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
