Larue County's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Caverna Colonels a 19-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabelle Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Larue County got a massive performance out of Molly Abbott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Abbott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Bell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Larue County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Caverna, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.
