Basketball Recap: Pinole Valley Find Success

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pinole Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 53-52 victory over the Bethel Jaguars. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ahmari Otis was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points and six rebounds. Jaylin Reed was another key player, posting eight points along with 16 rebounds and three blocks.

Pinole Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Pinole Valley's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-8. As for Bethel, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinole Valley will host El Cerrito at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in El Cerrito's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Bethel, they will face off against Vallejo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
