Preview: Bayshore Bruins vs. Bradenton Christian Panthers
The Bayshore Bruins will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Bradenton Christian Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bayshore will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 546th, while Bradenton Christian is ranked 80th).
Bayshore's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 65-32 loss at the hands of Booker. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bayshore in their matchups with Booker: they've now lost five in a row.
Bayshore's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of William Strawbridge, who scored 16 points, and Dashawn Smith who scored nine points. The game was Strawbridge's tenth in a row with at least ten points.
Bayshore struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Bradenton Christian was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Sarasota Christian 71-39 at home.
Bayshore has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Bradenton Christian, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Bayshore suffered a grim 73-48 defeat to Bradenton Christian in their previous meeting back in January. Can Bayshore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
