Basketball Recap: Front Range Baptist Comes Up Short

Front Range Baptist was the 33-28 winner over Mile High Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Front Range Baptist Falcons had to suffer through a 57-18 loss at the hands of the Mile High Academy Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered against the Mustangs since January 21, 2020.

Despite the loss, Front Range Baptist saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gia Spinuzzi posted no points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Spinuzzi a new career-high in steals.

Mile High Academy's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Delanie Prowant, who had eight points and 12 boards. Mile High Academy is 13-3 when Prowant posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Kylie Helm was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 15 points and eight boards.

Front Range Baptist has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's still a better percentage than their 5-16 record this season. Mile High Academy pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Front Range Baptist didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-18 defeat against Denver Jewish Day on the 25th. As for Mile High Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 29-23 win against Rocky Mountain Lutheran on the 25th.
