The Colonie Central Wolfpack will challenge the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Colonie Central will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Colonie Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, who was ranked ninth at the time (Colonie Central was ranked first). The Wolfpack skirted past the Spartans 5-4.
Adrianna Laraway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Katie Parisi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jadeyn Barbero, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Ballston Spa hit Guilderland with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Flying Dutchmen fell just short of the Scotties by a score of 7-6. The Flying Dutchmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alyssa Griffin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Santabarbara, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Colonie Central's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Guilderland, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Guilderland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colonie Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. It's a different story for Guilderland, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Colonie Central's hitters?
Colonie Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Guilderland when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flying Dutchmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
