Softball Recap: Castle Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Castle never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Evansville Reitz on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Panthers. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Knights' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Sadie Winsett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Bruggenschmidt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aubrey Baker was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Castle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Castle's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.
