Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals
Cornerstone Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt an 84-34 loss at the hands of the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Royals are ranked 138th).

Despite the defeat, Cornerstone Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Walker went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and five rebounds. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played.
College Prep & Leadership Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Mckenzie out in front who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc to rack up 24 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Those 24 points gave Mckenzie a new career-high. Marlon Carson was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 14 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Cornerstone Charter now has a losing record of 12-13. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-5.
Cornerstone Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they have already played their next game, a 69-61 victory against Carver on the 18th.
