Baseball Recap: Arp Takes a Loss

Arp lost against Gladewater last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers fell 13-8 to the Bears. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Landon Smith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Arp is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-13-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Will Sanford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Arp is 3-1 when Sanford posts one or more home runs, but 5-13-1 otherwise. Adan Ponce was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Arp's loss dropped their record down to 8-14-1. As for Gladewater, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Coincidentally, Arp and Gladewater will both be playing West Rusk the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bears will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
