Baseball Recap: West Anchorage Takes a Loss

West Anchorage extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 3-7-1. They lost 10-1 to the Colony Knights. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Colony, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

For Colony's part, Clay Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Wood has become a key player for the Knights: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Easton Cook was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Colony is 2-0-1 when Cook posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Sherman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Anchorage will host Dimond at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lynx will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Colony, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chugiak at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
